Caleb Epps, the Audio Lead from Harmonix is back in part 3 of the Game Trailers video introduction to the Rock Band Network. This time he talks to us about the website: creators.rockband.com.
This is where all the songs going up for inclusion into the Rock Band Network first live, in two states.
First, a song is submitted for play test, it is at this point that we are looking for comments, suggestions, and refinements, to get ready for publishing.
Next it goes on to peer review, where songs must pass all the criteria necessary to get into the Rock Band Network store.
Once the song is released from peer review, its available for purchase within a couple days.
Finally, Caleb gives us a brief overview of the documentation that will be available on the site.

Here we learn about Audition Mode. Audition mode will be included in a Rock Band 2 update, and for those of us in the Rock Band Network, it will allow us to check our charts as well as a few other technical and game play aspects of the tracks before uploading them for sale on RBN.
Caleb also talks about the new Rock Band Network Store. Any song one the RBN can be demoed for free, you can play the first minute or so of any song you want to check out. You will be allowed to rate the songs you purchase on a scale of one to five. You can browse for songs by Author, Country, Difficulty, Genre, etc.

Caleb Epps – the Audio Lead from Harmonix outlined the charting process for uploading music to the Rock Band Network. The workflow uses Reaper with custom plug-ins and a Rock Band Network tool called Magma.
REAPER is a digital audio workstation: a complete multi track audio and MIDI recording, editing, processing, mixing, and mastering environment.
The Rock Band Network plug-in will show exactly how your song will look in the game as you chart it.
Harmonix has also created some custom macros for Reaper, to assist with tempo mapping and other time consuming activities. Once you’re ready to rock, the tracks are sent over to Magma where they are compiled into a format playable in Rock Band.
